Cantabria is part of green Spain and this region is nothing like you have seen in Spain before. We have prepared a coastal walk by rocks and cliffs that will remind you of Cornwall and along golden sand beaches where you won´t have any problem finding your spot for a swim in the Cantabrian sea. You will also get the opportunity to explore Santander, one of the most beautiful cities on the northern Spanish coast as well as little charming inland modernist village of Comillas. Small family owned hotels and excellent northern Spanish gastronomy await you on this week guided walk. 5 stages.
Day 1
Arrival to Bilbao. Afternoon and evening on your own.
Day 2
Transfer with the guide to Sonabia 30min drive. Introduction and first stage Sonabia-Laredo. 10 km. Beach, mountain and coastal paths merge in this varied walk and stunning views over a good part of the coast East of Cantabria. Picnic on the walk. Night in Laredo. Dinner on your own.
Day 3
Laredo-Noja. 15 km We crossed the bay of Santoña by boat, to submerge ourselves almost immediately in the extensive oak grove of Monte Buciero, full of remains of forts from the Napoleonic era. In addition, people who want to add an extra effort to the route will have the opportunity to descend the 700 steps to the lighthouse of the Horse, located at the feet of vertiginous cliffs. After that, we will connect the golden sands of the beaches of Berria and Trengandín through the Collado de la Prayer, to reach the village of Noja. Picnic lunch included and dinner on your own.
Day 4
Galizano-Santander. 10.5 km. Beautiful coastal road between magnificent Meadows border the cliffs of the incredible Langre beach. Following in direction West we can see the Bay of Santander, one of the most beautiful in the world, which We will cross by boat from the town of Somo. Enjoy the day in the capital with a historical city walk and market visit! During the rest of the day just relax and enjoy the beach & several good lunch and dinner options.
Day 5

Circuit city walk Santander – Magdalena península – Alto Miranda – Canalejas – Peña Herbosa – Pombo – Porticada – Esperanza market– Ayuntamiento – Cathedral – Jardines de Pereda – Paseo Pereda – Puerto Chico – Castelar- Reina Victoria
Day 6
Arnía-Pinar de Liencres. 10 km. We enter the Costa Quebrada domain, a stretch of coast where we can observe the interesting geological formations resulting from the eternal struggle between the sea and the land. If the tide is favorable, we will complement the walk with a guided exit for wildlife observation Marine.Linear walk following the Costa Quebrada “The broken coast”. You will walk by hide out pirate bays and green meadows on your way. Picnic on the walk! Dinner on your own
If you are up for some more? A mountain walk around Liencres to get the best view of the week-long program. Also a great way to get a little view of Spanish 20th century history with the ruins from the civil war defending nests on the Picota mountain. See video
Day 7
Tagle-Bolao. 14 km. Green coastal meadows, ancient whaling towers, hermitages carved in the rock, abandoned mills, natural harbors … .a very interesting from the point of view of natural heritage and heritage architectural. Picnic on the walk!
We end up in Comillas. Check in and farwell dinner.
Day 8
Transfer to Bilbao and home flight.
