Itinerary highlights
Picos de Europa with about 60 000 square kilometers is one of our absolute favorites in northern Spain. Fresh as the Alps but with the warmth and color of its people and valleys! A mountain range that were the first spots of Europe the Conquerors of the New World would see when they would come back on the Atlantic Ocean and somewhat the beginning of the history of the Christian Spain and the reconquering from the moors in this “Dolomitian” like natural reserve. We take you to small family owned hotels and excellent northern Spanish gastronomy on this week long self-guided walk – Picos de Europa walking tour!

Cocido Montañes

On this tour you will enjoy solid buffet breakfasts with bread, cereals, juice, coffe & tea, ham, cheese as well as local sweets to get ready for a day of walking. 4  dinners & 1 lunch are included during the week. We will also recommend you where to have dinner in the travel documents you recieve upon arrival. We will make sure you try some of the typical mountain stews and one of the Picos famous cheeses…It is this cheese that gives the mountains much of their character. The Picos de Europa was Spain’s first national park, and it is a place where cows and goats still graze purely to maintain the local cheese industry. As they trim the grassy slopes of heather and gorse, they also open up spectacular views across the massif.
